The Offshore Wealth team is currently one of BlackRock's most dynamic businesses. By focusing on financial intermediary sales of BlackRock products through wirehouses, broker-dealers, private banks, independent advisors, family offices, and RIAs. The Offshore team has helped solidify BlackRock's position as a top provider of investment solutions for the offshore wealth segment in the Americas.

Professionals within the team work together to deliver a full range of asset management, risk management and advisory services relevant to clients' investment needs. Unified under one global client platform, individual client businesses are accountable for client relationships and distribution of products and services and are supported by a centralized marketing function which ensures consistency globally.

Business development leads serve as the key contact between BlackRock and our financial intermediary clients and financial advisors. Their objective is to build and develop a business strategy and distribution relationships within a target market.

BlackRock Offshore Wealth is seeking to hire a Business Development Lead to focus on building out the firm's business concentrating on Asia Pacific end-investors primarily through financial intermediaries in California. The position will be based in our San Francisco, CA office and will report directly to the Head of Offshore Distribution.

A Business Development lead in the Offshore Wealth Team is responsible for:
  • Develop a business strategy for the segment / territory.
  • Drive sales across the full spectrum of BlackRock investment solutions (Alts, Mutual Funds, ETFs, SMAs, Risk Management) by developing, maintaining and growing relationships with new and excising financial advisors.
  • Travel and maintain active presence within territory to conduct one-on-one advisor sales calls, conduct client events and deliver group presentations, including continuing education/trainings.
  • Build relationships with senior individuals within intermediary client organizations in order to influence the entire portfolio by leveraging BlackRock's breadth.
  • Highly proficient in explaining markets and in positioning/blending the benefits of active portfolios, ETFs, and alternatives.
  • Deploy firm resources in order to generate new sources of revenue and to expand existing business relationships.
  • Provide insights with the broader team by sharing client and sales insights and best practices.
  • Producing sales results and activity levels as defined by team leadership.
  • Positioning and differentiating BlackRock and our products against competitor firms and their products.
  • Maintain strong connectivity with BlackRock's wealth teams focused on the US and APAC.


Position Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of experience in a business development/sales role focusing on Asia Pacific investors.
  • Experience in dealing with global and sophisticated financial institutions catering to APAC wealth.
  • Focus on specific, aspirational goals and demonstrate personal accountability and track record for delivering results.
  • Ability to articulate ideas/strategies clearly, both verbally and written to work within the firm's fast paces and highly focused environment
  • Enjoy working collaboratively across the organization in a team environment.
  • Strong investment knowledge and passion for financial markets.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business or related field required.
  • MBA &/or CFA or equivalent advanced degree/certification preferred.
  • Series 7 and licenses required or willingness to pursue within the first three months on employment.
  • High character individual with strong ethics and integrity.
  • English and Mandarin fluency required.


For California only the salary range for this position is $142,500 - $190,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
