CAIS is building the first truly open marketplace for alternative investments, where financial advisors and asset managers can engage and transact directly on a massive scale.  CAIS provides financial advisors with a broad selection of alternative investment strategies, including hedge funds, private equity, private credit, real estate, digital assets, and structured notes, allowing them to capitalize on opportunities and/or withstand ever-changing markets. Additionally, CAIS provides an industry leading learning system, CAIS IQ, that helps advisors learn faster, remember longer and improve client outcomes.

We are seeking a curious and detail-oriented go-getter to join the Investment Strategy team as an Analyst. The ideal candidate is San-Francisco based and embraces a hybrid work model, with in-office presence 2-3 days per week. The candidate will work closely with the Managing Director of Investment Strategy and will be responsible for conducting research, market data analysis, and preparing materials. They will gain significant exposure to research projects across the alternative investment industry. The ideal candidate has a background in programming, an understanding of capital markets, excellent data analytics skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Managing Director of Investment Strategy to support research functions across alternative investments, thematic investing, global private and public markets, and emerging markets
  • Autonomously conduct research and analyze data for internal and client meetings; prepare presentation decks and meeting materials
  • Perform public and private market analysis by leveraging econometric modeling, Excel spreadsheets, and coding skillset
  • Assist in thought leadership commentary through research, preparing charts, helping draft and edit commentary and periodic in-depth pieces on market themes and dynamics
  • Help originate timely insights for broader CAIS organization by staying informed on daily market developments
  • Additional responsibilities to be determined based on capacity, skill, and interest

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Finance, Economics, or Finance
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred
  • Programming background required; familiarity with either VBA, Python, or a similar program
  • Understanding of capital markets and curiosity for global markets
  • Strong modeling and quantitative skills preferred; familiarity working with large data sets required
  • Experience using Bloomberg terminal, Prequin, and/or HRF preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Strong ability to multi-task, while ensuring extreme attention to detail
  • Quick learner and able to rapidly grasp new concepts
  • Progress toward CFA (Preferred) or CAIA viewed favorably, or willingness to enroll immediately
