Systematic Active Equity (SAE) is the quantitative equity group within BlackRock. We invest our client assets using a systematic investment approach. SAE is a pioneer and thought leader in the industry and has consistently achieved client investment goals across global equity markets for over 30 years. We are seeking an individual with experience in the investment industry, technical skills and a willingness to learn. The candidate will become a member of SAE's Business Management team in San Francisco, directly working with and complementing the global SAE investment and quantitative research platform.

Reporting directly to SAE's Chief Operating Officer, this position is a multi-faceted role which requires interaction with many external and internal partners, including BlackRock senior management, Portfolio Management, Trading, Strategy, Audit, Business Operations and Legal & Compliance, among others.

Key Responsibilities:

Defining and Driving Platform Management: develop and execute action plans for key business objectives and focus areas, bridging current and future state

Technology: collaborate with external and internal business partners to acquire and onboard data, and facilitate technology improvements which address the evolving needs of the business

Strategic Initiatives & New Products: work closely with senior management on key strategic projects and initiatives including new product development and launches

Project Management: act as lead on projects for the platform that relate to portfolio management, investment, technology and business processes

Operational Risk: help mitigate operational risk and promote a culture of compliance

Financials: support the management of budget and headcount

Policy & Process: promote firm, business and regulatory policies and procedures

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years in an asset management or financial services team with experience in equities, fixed income, product or technology development and / or corporate strategy functions
  • Solid academic background with a degree in Computer Science, Finance, Economics or a related field; CFA and / or MBA a plus
  • Strong financial, quantitative or data analysis abilities, attention to detail, and time management skills preferred
  • Sound judgment, maturity, professionalism and discretion required


Technical Skills:
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; VBA proficiency desired
  • Familiarity with project management software (JIRA, Trello, Asana)
  • Experience with Python paired with an interest in producing tools a plus
  • Ability to utilize business intelligence technology (SQL, Tableau, Aqua Data Studio) and knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) a plus
  • Willingness to learn modern website technologies (Angular, AJAX, REST, HTTP, XSS) a plus
