BlackRock's Fixed Income team manages more than $1 trillion in global fixed income assets across index, active long-only, alternative, and liability driven strategies. The platform offers fixed income investors one of the industry's broadest arrays of investment choices across model-based and fundamental investment styles.

The High Yield Credit Trading Team is seeking a Credit Trader for its global investment activities in San Francisco. The candidate will be responsible for trading both cash, loans, and derivative credit products and report directly to the San Francisco Head of HY Credit Trading. He or she will work directly with credit PMs and analysts to develop and implement investment views for specific sectors in High Yield. The person will assist in growing the Fixed Income ETF platform (iShares®) through best execution and idea generation. Successful management of the sectors will involve trading one of the largest credit books in the world and influencing the investment direction of the Systematic Fixed Income, Global Fixed Income, Index and iShares® Fixed Income platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Efficient execution of USD trading strategies for active long only, ETF, hedge fund and index trading strategies for North America and International PM teams
  • Actively contribute to development of platform infrastructure and analytics to improve trading efficiency and operational risk reduction (e.g. electronic platforms, new protocols, straight thru processing, basket trading)
  • Be aware of general market sentiment as well as develop independent views that are anticipatory of the market
  • Lead discussions and communicate market technicals and sector specific views to portfolio managers within model based fixed income and the global fixed income investment platform of BlackRock
  • Generate alpha and relative value ideas that are scalable and relevant to each portfolio team
  • Embrace the Blackrock Principles and be a culture carrier of the North American Trading team


Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of fixed income trading experience
  • MBA or CFA preferred
  • Direct experience trading corporate credit
  • Knowledge of a broad range of fixed income asset classes and products. Experience with HY credit, loans, and credit derivatives preferred
  • Ability to structure and evaluate relative value trades across the capital structure
  • Track record of interfacing with the Street and selecting best execution counterparties
  • Must be adaptable and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong intellectual capacity and analytical mindset
  • Highly motivated; self-starter
